Ira Matuschke ist Agrarökonomin und seit 2014 am RIFS tätig. Sie ist die wissenschaftliche Leiterin der Nachhaltigkeitsplattform Brandenburg, die ein Kommunikationsforum und Netzwerk für die vielfältigen Nachhaltigkeitsinitiativen im Land Brandenburg ist.
Vor ihrer Tätigkeit am RIFS war Matuschke bei verschiedenen internationalen Organisationen im Bereich Agrarpolitik tätig: Zu den Stationen ihrer Laufbahn gehören die Welternährungsorganisation der Vereinten Nationen (FAO, Rom), die Organisation für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (OECD, Paris), sowie das International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI, Washington DC und Addis Abeba).
Ira Matuschke hat im Fach Agrarökonomie an der Universität Hohenheim promoviert (magna cum laude) und hat einen Master Abschluss in Entwicklungsökonomie von der University of Sussex. Weitere Studien in Volkswirtschaft und Wirtschaftsgeschichte absolvierte sie an der Universität Maastricht sowie der Australian National University. Ira Matuschkes Arbeiten sind vielfach veröffentlicht und sie ist Gutachterin für verschiedene internationale wissenschaftliche Journale.
