Himanshu Setia is a doctoral researcher at the Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) at the GFZ in Potsdam, Germany, specializing in environmental engineering with a focus on air pollution monitoring and data-driven environmental analysis. He holds a Master of Technology in Environmental Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. His academic work includes forecasting and classifying air pollution scenarios using machine learning, as well as predictive modeling during his internship at UFZ in Leipzig.
Currently, as part of the Net4Cities Project, Himanshu is involved in installing advanced air pollution sensors in Berlin and analyzing collected data to inform evidence-based policy decisions. His previous role as a scientific researcher at UFZ saw him tackling environmental exposure challenges during urban cycling and walking, where he applied state-of-the-art algorithms to develop actionable insights. Prior to his research roles, he worked as an Advanced Data Science Associate Consultant at ZS Associates, where he led teams in deploying statistical and machine learning techniques.
