This project uses a transdisciplinary approach to evaluate different aspects of mobility policy implementations in collaboration with the City of Berlin. This includes changes in traffic, air quality, and user preferences and perceptions.

The air quality measurements are conducted using a combination of small sensors and reference instrumentation to accompany the implementation of individual (mobility) policies and quantify their impact on local air quality, a key metric for policymakers' assessments of their success. Small sensors have the potential to provide valuable complementary measurements to established air quality monitoring stations in urban areas. Their flexibility also allows for short- or longer-term deployments to accompany policy implementations, for example. Furthermore, measurement campaigns designed in collaboration with the City of Berlin can include the stationary and mobile deployment of small sensors, an assessment of changes in motor vehicle and bicycle traffic, and an evaluation of the perception of mobility policies and user preferences. Data generated by these measurement campaigns are discussed with and reported to the City of Berlin, as input for future decision-making.
